Lumiere Ballet Co.,Inc. Is a Not-For-Profit arts organization under code 501(C)(3).
It was founded in 1994. Lumiere Ballet operates a year round training program,
a performing company and an Arts-In-Education program.
It also includes a discovery program for young children and an enrichment program for adults
with little or no dance experience.
The Lumiere Ballet Company began presenting an original staging of
Mennotti's "The Unicorn, the Gorgon and, the Manticore" in collaboration with the SUNY at Stony Brook
music department at the Staller Center. Lead by Svetlana Caton-Noble, the cast consisted of 9
professional dancers with Venti Petrov in the lead role.
With the mission to conserve the classical tradition and move ahead with effort and originality, Lumiere Ballet
incorporated as Not-For-Profit under code 501(c)(3) in 1995. On that principle, Svetlana Caton-Noble
and Venti Petrov have developed a training program containing a fully graded curriculum in classical ballet
striving to develop a regional company with Long Island's youth. The program provides a very supportive environment
enriching and challenging out youth with daily classes in technique, pointe, studies in repertory and
partnering and rehearsals. Dance history, painting and field trips are offered during Lumiere Ballet Summer Studies.
In the course of a full year, qualified students are featured in public performances, often sharing lead
and supportive roles with professional dancers. They dance in new commissioned works and classic masterpieces.
The performances are offered to the general public in New York City and throughout Long Island.
In addition to public performances, Lumiere Ballet's Outreach and Arts-In-Education Programs
bring dance spectacles and workshops to Assisted Living Centers, Nursing Homes and Schools.
Coming out of the classical tradition, Lumiere Ballet is steadily unfolding fresh and new creations.
The repetoire includes several full length story ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Hansel and Gretel,
Snowmaiden
and commisioned works : The Flame of the Blue Candle, Les Patineurs, Patten Pending, Romeo and Juliet,
Invitation au Voyage, Solitude in Three
... and more...
